Howard Brothers Sixth Location in Lula Georgia
It’s hard to believe that our Athens location has been a part of the Howard Brothers family since March 1, 2016. Five years ago, we were approached by the owners of Riverside Mower in Athens and asked if we’d consider purchasing their business so that they could retire. The emphasis then, as it still is today: take care of the customers and employees of Riverside Mower.
The transition in Athens has exceeded our expectations. The remodeled store is gorgeous. We are extremely proud of the Athens store and our Athens team.
Today, we’re excited to announce another new location to join the Howard Brothers family.
Country Living Ace Hardware in Lula, Georgia has been around for about 10 years. A few months ago, owner, Jimmy Cantrell started the conversation with us about purchasing his business and property. Just as with Athens, he wanted someone who could come in and take care of his employees and continue to provide excellent service to their very loyal customers.
If you’ve driven north on I-985 toward Jaemor Farms, you’ve likely seen the huge “wooden timber/metal roofed” Ace Hardware on the right side of the road. Country Living Ace Hardware is a GREAT hardware store in the middle of Lula, located at 4336 Cornelia Highway. The store is 10 miles north of Gainesville, and 10 miles south of Cornelia. We’ve been told all the timber on the interior and exterior was chosen and milled specifically for this building. It is inviting and warm from the huge front porch and continues throughout the over 15,000 Square Foot Store!
Regardless of its size, the hardware store feels small when you walk in. You’re always greeted by one its team members. Howie Jackson and Jeff Gates have been a part of the heartbeat of this store for many years. They and the rest of the Country Living members will greet you and help you find what you’re looking for.
A few changes will be made over the next several months into fall. Howard Brothers has been a part of the True Value family since 1972, and we are excited to work with True Value to reimagine the interior of the store. We do not expect to change product selection in the store. As with our other hardware stores, we offer the products that are uniquely needed in each of our communities. We will continue to offer the same basic assortment of products and are confident that pricing and availability will remain the same.
One of the most obvious changes that will be made over time will be the addition of a larger selection of Outdoor Power Equipment. Currently, Country Living has a good selection of STIHL handheld tools. Over the next few months, we will be working with many of the trusted brands in the green industry, to create a dealership that will serve both homeowners, landowners and professional landscape contractors in this region of northeast Georgia.
The Lula team is here to serve you. We’re excited to come alongside the great work that they do. They’ve got knowledge and know-how and really want to help. We’ve already been getting to know the loyal folks of Lula and look forward to serving you for MANY years to come!
