Introducing Honda's First Robotic Mower: Miimo

Everyone has heard of a Roomba, right? Well for those of you unfamiliar with the product, it’s a small robot machine that saves you the time and work of having to vacuum your whole house. Now just imagine if you could do the same with your lawn. Honda’s first robotic mower, Miimo, is designed to make lawn mowing more convenient by automating the process and making it effortless. It’s like a Roomba for your lawn.

So now that you’ve seen what it does, here are a few tidbits of information to know:

  • Honda’s first robotic mower for the U.S. market arrives in dealer showrooms this summer
  • Convenient, intelligent and automated, Miimo provides lawn mowing ease for busy and active homeowners
  • Miimo self-charges quickly, operates quietly and includes safety features and a functional design
  • Three programmable cutting modes and programmable timer deliver maximum versatility
  • Two available Miimo models—HRM 310 and HRM 520—maintain lawns with a continuous cutting system

How does Miimo work?

“The Miimo robotic lawn mower uses a microcomputer, timer and sensors to provide automated, unattended grass cutting within a defined lawn area.” Sounds like a dream if you don’t have the time or patience to mow your lawn regularly. What makes this product great is its ability to be efficient while delivering minimal noise and how quick it charges. With the easy to use timer setting you can choose between three different programmable cutting patterns.

Initially, a robotic mower increased flower bed and pet safety concerns. However, upon reading further into Honda’s article these concerns minimized when learning more about Miimo’s boundary wires and sensory activation features. What are boundary wires? Excellent question. Boundary Wires have to be installed by your preferred Honda Power Equipment dealers either above or below ground. Then, they give off an electric field which Miimo detects in order to stay within the boundary. They can even be used to protect obstacles! Built in 360-degree sensors and a floating cover that detect solid contact will make the robotic mower stop if physical contact is made to ensure pet safety.

This cool new technology is not available for distribution until June. Though it is not yet certain whether this robotic lawn mower will hit Howard Brother’s locations, we always strive stay updated with our partner brands’ new products!
